RIP: DON KNOTTSBeautiful characature. I was trying to draw Marlon Brando all weekend, and I didn't come up with anything satisfying. I'm just terrible at characature. I can never 'push' a drawing when I'm working from reference.
Thanks! I wish I had more time to work on this, but between paid jobs and personal work I didn't have time to do more than a few sketches before picking one to ink and color.Caricatures are hard. I also have a tendency to not push drawings enough when faced with photo reference. Usually it takes me a couple of pages like that Russell Crowe stuff I posted before I'm comfortable enough to push the likeness to extremes.
Awesome drawing!!! but...this post makes me sad!
Holy crap thats great Brian! But then again Don Knotts is easily one of my all-time favorite funny-looking celebs, so he's sort of kinda makes it a bit easier for you with all his natural wonky-ness.Hell you've inspired me to have a go at a tribute caricature of my very own.
very nicely done. i actually was working on illustration of don knotts that i finished on friday, and after sending it in, i learned that he passed away on saturday!http://www.eben.com/illustration/index.php?pg=1&item=magazine/lowb_knotts_01.gif
