On Vacation!

Leah and I will be in Los Angeles for five days starting today. We'll be meeting up with friends, family and clients as well scoping out 'hoods we might want to move too this fall. After that we head up the PCH to Big Sur, San Francisco and Napa for a few days. Needless to say I won't be blogging or even checking e-mails while on the road. If you need me call my cell!

A little process...

Here's a peek at my process. It's not really the whole thing 'cause there's a ton of sketches I do before I get one I'm happy enough to work with. The image below shows the final sketch, digital inking of the characters and the final colored piece. This particular illustration is for YRB, it's a small piece on the resurgence of crack use in Argentina.

Some work... Some play

New sketches! Most of these are for an upcoming job. The rest are just messin' around. Enjoy!

Lost Cartoons "Bad Luck Blackie"

Another one from the twisted imagination of Tex Avery! This particular cartoon really only has one gag, but it's a damn good one. My favorite part is what happens to the bulldog at the very end. Enjoy!

Guitar Porn

It was so nice out today I was compelled to take some pics of my guitars. They're both Gibson '59 Les Paul Reissues. They sound and play as glorious as they look too!

Ren & Stimpy: The Lost Episodes

Finally the Ren & Stimpy Adult Party Cartoons will be available on DVD July 18th. This set features all the cartoons that aired on Spike TV plus three cartoons that never aired. I've seen all the ones that aired, plus two of 'em that didn't. They're amazing! No series made for TV has ever had this many funny drawings in it. Hell, most animated features these days don't either! Series creator John Kricfalusi has posted some clips on his blog, go check them out now. You can also pre-order the DVD at Amazon here.

Some sketches for dat ass!

Sorry for being slow on the updates in the last week. I've got a bunch of new work, all of which has to be finished before Leah and I go on vacation and 'hood scouting in Los Angeles the first week of May. Also the weather was awesome this weekend and we didn't feel like sitting in front of our Macs while the sun was shining. Here's a page off of the clipboard from late last week, enjoy!

Cartoon Life Drawing Pt 2

Over the weekend I popped in some Looney Toons DVDs, paused on some poses that caught my interest and tried to sketch 'em out as quickly as possible. At first I was going for simple shapes, trying to get a feel for the construction on the characters. Then I moved on to try and capture some of the expressions. At the bottom there are a few drawings of my characters, trying to apply what I'm hopefully learning.

Girls Girls Girls Part 2

Here's two pages of chick drawings. Have a great weekend folks!

South Park Takes On The Family Guy

I always felt that The Family Guy was the worst animated sitcom ever, but I never really gave too much thought on why. Thankfully Jaime Weinman has summed it up nicely already! Enjoy the South Park rip on this travesty of animated entertainment below:

Thanks to Amid from Cartoon Brew for bringing it to my attention.

John Beauchemin: Daily Sketch Blaargh

My pal John Beauchemin has been doing some really sweet monster-rock drawings recently. I highly recommend you head on over and check out his blog right now! He somehow manages to pack in tons of detail while still maintaining fluidity on his muscle-bound creations.

Portfolio Updated

I've added seven pieces to my portfolio. Some of it is a bit older, but has strong elements of what I do now. So be a pal and head on over to check it out!
