I Hurt Myself Today...

This music video recalls my early childhood, angsty teen years, yet taps into my adult lowbrow sense of humor. Genius!

Fire!

Don't worry, the it's on the other side of the hill for now. Leah was nice enough to drive me all through the our 'hood to get some photos. Hopefully it'll be contained and we won't have to evacuate while Leah's mom is in town!

*UPDATE*

Apparently the fire was set by two asswipes visiting from Illinois. Luckily no one was hurt as far as I know and the blaze was under control fairly quickly thanks to the the LAFD.

Yes, Even More On Jim Phillips

After my last post I was contacted by artist and skater Matt French. He informed me that he recently worked with Jim and Powell Peralta artist VC Johnson on some new decks for Pocket Pistols Skates. Matt was nice enough to send me some of the new deck art to share with all the people on the internets.

Here's the original ripper deck along with the a new design by VC Johnson and Matt French:

This design is a collaboration by Jim Phillips and Matt French:

Christion Hosoi Hammerhead design by Matt French (check out the shark tooth type!):

Jim also did some great interpretations of his original Screaming Hand graphic:

If you want to see more new designs or purchase them, check out 'Pocket Pistols' in the 'Decks' section on the Tailtap site.

More On Artist Jim Phillips

Andreas Trolf has posted a sweet article over at Fecal Face on Jim's studio. If you're a fan of skate art from the 80's or just a fan of nasty cartoons and sick custom type you owe it to yourself to check it out now.

Also, check out my previous Jim Phillips post!

The Vacation at Safari Sam's

I finally got to check out The Vacation live at Safari Sam's last night! They put on a great show and Sam's had a decent sized crowd, especially for a Monday night. Los Angeles is much better for seeing rock shows. Unlike New York City, the crowd is way more into it and the women know how to dress for the occasion.

There are some pics of the show on my Flickr page. Honestly, I wasn't on my game last night. I haven't had time to shoot a show since December and I think it shows. Most of my big projects are wrapping up this week, so hopefully I can really get back to the concert photos.

Raketu!

As some of you know, I've been doing a little freelance work recently for John K. Now you can see the fruits of my glorious cartoon labor over at the new Raketu web site. I inked some of the art used in Mobile and IP TV spots. Raketu is a virtual swiss army knife application with ability to deliver free or cheap international calling from your computer or mobile phone. Not only that, but it can play video and music as well as IM and SMS. Go check it out now!
